You will note that "helm" is found in the word overwhelming. And in the case of NGC 2359, Thor's Helmet, that is exactly as it should be. The central star that powers this large space bubble is a Wolf-Rayet star. This star is so hot that it emits most of its light in ultraviolet (UV) wavelengths of light - well beyond our visible abilities. The UV light makes these clouds of gas glow colorfully. This object is more than 10,000 light years away.
