This nearly perfect edge-on view of a spiral galaxy lives up to its name. This galaxy is near the center of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies, of which we are on the outskirts. The Sombrero Galaxy has one of the largest known super-massive black holes at its core, sitting nicely at around 1 billion times the mass of our sun. The galaxy lies some 40 million light years away.
