One of the most identifiable nebulae in the sky, the Horsehead Nebula in Orion is part of a large molecular cloud. Due to the radiative prowess of Sigma Orion is, a bright star just outside (above) of this field of view, the hydrogen gas is ionized and glows red. Streams of gas leaving the nebula are channeled by strong magnetic fields. Brights spots in the Horsehead Nebula's base are young stars just in the process of forming. Light takes 1,500 years to reach us from this cosmic equine.

Each photograph is available in 5" x 7", 8" x 10", 11" x 14", and 16" x 20" and comes with an informational card of the back.
