A reflection nebula in the constellation Perseus
This dark and mysterious cloud of gas and dust is punctuated by stars that are forming within it. Stars are gas balls and many hundreds of them can form from a cloud such as this. Once all of the natal gas is consumed, a bright cluster of stars will remain. However NGC 1333 is the first stage in this evolution and millions of years will need to pass before many more stars will be visible here.
